Deceive Me Not Imagine learning at the age of forty-nine that you were adopted, and in the course of tracing your birth parents, find out your happy thirty year marriage is threatened by the outcome.
This is the dilemma facing Barbara McNab when she
returns alone to the English village of Littlingham where she believes she was
born. Before her search is over, she will learn how children suffer
psychologically when war separates them for many years from their families;
how, for some whose entire family died as a result of war, the guilt of
survival causes lifelong trauma.
Missing her husband, but afraid to reveal her
search's unimaginable conclusion, Barbara struggles alone to solve the
mystery. Underlying the adventure, mystery and even murder, is the story of a
love that, having thrived for thirty years, is strengthened by coming so close
to being lost forever.

In the Shadow of the Mosque Nothing prepared me, a middle-aged American housewife, for life or for my culturally shocking, mind-broadening experiences in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
I was fifty-one when, in 1984, I accompanied my
husband to Saudi Arabia. Islam dictated the rules under which I lived.
Forbidden to work or drive a car, I couldn't leave the confines of the housing
compound alone and only when wearing a full-length dress with a high neck and
long sleeves.
Kindi, a walled compound at the north end if the port
city of Jeddah, housed an average of forty families from all corners of the
world in American mobile homes. We were truly an international community, but
from the daily prayer calls which regulated our lives to the stern
admonishment from the Committee for the Promulgation of Virtue and the
Elimination of Vice, we all, Muslim and non-Muslim alike, lived In the Shadow
of the Mosque.

REVIEWS
WAVE
ME GOODBYE
"This book has a great sense of history. It is a
tale of adventure, adversity, sacrifice and hope. Most of all it is the
triumph of truth over hate and fear that permeate a war-torn
world."
-- Barri Bryan reviewer for Know Better Books.
"This
suspenseful novel combines adventure, romance and a lesson about never giving
up. Written by an eyewitness to that period in history, the story comes
alive with settings so real that you'll have no trouble believing. The
vivid portrayal of events few have heard of, let alone experienced, creates a
full and riveting page-turner."
--Rosalie More, EPIC 2000 nominee and author of ALLEGIANCE and HONOR AMONG THIEVES.
"Inspired
by an actual World War 11 event, WAVE ME GOODBYE is a poignant story of love
and survival. You should have plenty of tissues handy while reading this one.
It is often tragic and heartbreaking. Ted and Cilla are marvelous characters.
Their refusal to give up on finding each other will warm your heart. This
mildly sensual story is beautifully written. I highly recommend it."
-- Renee for Sizzling Romances - rating 4-1/2 flames.
"At
the heart of the story is a stunning portrait of patriotic twenty-two year old
Priscilla Thornton...Particularly moving is the manner in which Sherwood draws
the reader into Priscilla's feelings, love for her childhood sweetheart Ted
Evans. The
horrid adventures are retold in a way that reflects Sherwood's effective story
telling skills - swiftly moving the plot along and keeping you engaged until
the last page."
-- Norm Goldman for Book Pleasures - rated four stars.
SOMETIME,
SOMEWHERE
"...
a story of love that knows no boundaries, not even time. Pieter and Mari were
destined to be together no matter what the century...Fans of time travel
romance and love that spans the ages will not be disappointed."
-- Krista for Writer Gazette.
"This
novel was such a wonderful read. My only dilemma was in deciding whether to
hurry and read it so that I could find out the ending or to slowly savor it to
make it last longer . I know it is none I will enjoy reading again and
again. I like the way the author developed her character's problems with
being suddenly dropped into another time."
- - Marsha Markham
"This
novel is a delightful paranormal based on the real life story of Marie du
Trieux, 1617-1688. The author has done an admirable job of recreating
the details of life at that time, including a witch hunt and Indian uprising. While
some of the details were brutal and gory, I couldn't help caring deeply about
Mari and Pieter and hoping for their eventual happiness."
-- Edna Curry for In the Library Review.
"A superb book! I was transported back in time
by the vivid descriptions and a moving story."
--Rosalie More, author of ALLEGIANCE and HONOR AMONG THIEVES. |
